Chapter 26 Everything will get better

Everything will get better.

After four months of treatment, along came the season of spring. Shi Wangyue had finished another round of acupuncture treatment, and finally managed to get rid of the little walking stick. He could now walk independently.

Although progress was very, very slow, it was considered a medical miracle to be able to achieve such a state of recovery.

There were only four people who witnessed the moment of miracle in the ward. They were Xia Rong, Ning Youguang, Liu Susu, and Shi Wangyue himself.

After the child’s accident, Shi Manchuan visited once, accompanied by one of the Shi family members. Subsequently, other than Liu Susu, no one from the Shi family had come to visit him even once.

Xia Rong and Xia Xiqing saw all of this but never said anything bad about the Shi family. However, they pitied the child from the bottom of their hearts and took extra care of him.

Shi Wangyue was just seven years old, and he had already experienced the fickleness of mankind at such a young age. His sister and her family had been good to him. This will remain etched in his heart.

Since he was born, he had never felt so at ease or received so much kindness as he had during the ten months spent in the hospital.

“Every pain is actually a gift in disguise,” his sister said.

“Sister, I can walk now.” After lying in a hospital bed for nearly a year, the child was finally smiling brightly. “From now on, may peace be upon you.” The seven-year-old girl’s eyes reddened.

Finally, she’d survived the first hurdle of his life with him, and rewrote the tragedy of his life.

“You may make arrangements for discharge,” Xia Rong said to Liu Susu, his face filled with joy. He had been observing the boy’s condition for some time.

As the attending physician of the child, Xia Rong often wondered if his approach towards the child’s treatment was accurate, but as long as the outcome was good, nothing else really mattered.

Liu Susu had mixed feelings. Of course she was happy that her son could recover, but she was still thinking about the five percent shares in compensation that the Shi family had given her because of her son’s injury.

She was very afraid that if her son recovered, the Shi family would take it back.

“Can he really be discharged? Does he need any more treatment?”

“Yes he can be discharged. Come for a follow-up check every month for the first three months . Then, depending on how it goes, we will make subsequent plans for further treatment. As the child’s mother, you will have to work harder at home. Help him with the exercises frequently so that he can recover quickly.”

“Okay, thank you, Dr. Xia.” Liu Susu tried to hide her uneasiness.

The child had been discharged from the hospital. Youguang could finally get some rest. Coincidentally, Ning Yi was in Jin City.

On this day, at an upscale Western restaurant in the World Trade Center.

Youguang was slowly trying to swallow the piece of codfish in her mouth. She had observed that her father was looking distracted in the past ten minutes. He was glancing towards her side from time to time.

“What are you looking at, Daddy?”

“I am looking at a colleague.” Ning Yi looked back at her.

“Who is it?”

“Look at those two who are talking. He’s the one on the right, and also the scriptwriter’s assistant from my previous crew.” Ning Yi pointed to the two men at a nearby table.

Youguang turned around and saw the two people. They were seated and chatting with each other. The middle-aged man on the left was wearing a baseball cap, so his face couldn’t be seen clearly. He was shaking his head and talking to the young man beside him.

The young man on the right looked gloomy. It seemed as if he were half awake. His hair was long and partially covered his eyes. He was dressed in well-worn casual clothes and exuded a brooding aura.

Youguang found him familiar looking. After taking a closer look, she recognized this person as the most famous screenwriter in the future Chinese entertainment industry, Mr. Cat.

“Dad, do you want to go say hello to him?” She hadn’t expected Mr. Cat to have worked with her father before, and her interest was piqued.

“Alright, I’ll go greet him. Sit here.” Ning Yi thought for a moment, got up, and prepared to go over.

At that moment, the middle-aged man also got up and threw his napkin on the table.

“Think about it. I have something on. I have to go.”

After the middle-aged man left, Mr. Cat crossed its arms and lowered its head. He looked at the table and seemed to be thinking about something. The aura around him became even more desolate.

Ning Yi walked over and drummed his fingers on the dining table in front of Mr. Cat.

“Ning Yi?” Mr. Cat was surprised to see Ning Yi.

“What were you talking to Wang Mazi about?” Ning Yi asked with a smile. His voice was clear and energetic.

Mr. Cat looked at his handsome smiling face and perked up a little.

“We were discussing something. Why are you here?”

“I was having dinner with my daughter. Would you like to join us?”

“Daughter?” Mr. Cat was dumbfounded. “She’s there.” Ning Yi turned and pointed to a little girl sitting in a booth a few tables away.

Youguang was staring at them. She could see her father’s movements clearly and could tell that he was introducing her to Mr. Cat. She smiled at him.

Mr. Cat had not expected the young director’s assistant he had met at work previously to have a daughter so big. She was also extremely cute.

“Holy shit!”

Mr. Cat was appalled.

“Don’t swear in front of children.” Ning Yi patted Mr. Cat’s shoulder. “Do you want to eat with us?”

When Mr. Cat sat down beside the father and daughter pair, he was still in shock.

“Hello, Uncle.”

Little Youguang couldn’t help but size him up secretly.

It seemed that the future screenwriter was not doing so well. He looked extremely depressed.

“Hello, hello, little friend.” Mr. Cat wanted to smile at the cute little child—but he had probably not smiled in a long time-his face froze when he tried to engage those facial muscles.

“Order whatever you want.” Ning Yi handed Mr. Cat a menu. “I’m in a good mood today. My treat.”

“Thanks, bro.” Mr. Cat lowered his eyes slightly.

His relationship with Ning Yi was that of an ordinary colleague who had simply just worked together. He did not expect him to treat him to a meal right there and then.

He felt a little grateful and ordered the set meal he wanted with no restraint.

“You’re welcome,” Ning Yi said with a smile, as if he and Mr. Cat had been old friends for many years. The latter gradually relaxed. “If there’s a chance in future, I’ll wait for your treat.”

“Okay, that’s settled.” Sure enough, Mr. Cat relaxed and began to wonder about Ning Yi and his daughter.

“I didn’t expect you to have a daughter so grown up. You are still so young,”

“I’m a lucky man.” Ning Yi’s eyes were filled with joy and pride.

Mr. Cat couldn’t help but smile too.

They chatted for a while, and began to talk about work.

“Stupid director, what was he filming? He is so arrogant. I just want to quit.” Ning Yi thought of what happened in the production team, and couldn’t suppress his anger.

“It’s good to quit. Then you don’t have to suffer and witness this mess.” Mr. Cat could empathize with Ning Yi’s anger.

“That’s right. When I find a good script, I’ll film it myself and ignore them.”

This was why he had been hanging around Jin City recently and had not gone to work. He had had enough of the director’s pettiness on the set.

“Good script, I do have a good script here.” Mr. Cat had been drinking and couldn’t help but reveal his thoughts to Ning Yi.
