Left alone in the dark room where Anne had left, Daymond staggered and sat down on the bed, falling apart. His face, entangled with anger, despair, and even confusion, was sunken low.

This child is your blood. Just like our child in the past.

Luciel answered with a natural face. Hearing those words, the red eyes burned with fearful intensity.

“Was this your plan from the beginning? You lied about all those things of not having seeds?”

“Daymond, it’s unacceptable to have a halfling like you, so you want me to just wait and see if there’s another one like you? I couldn’t stand mixing blood with other humans even more, not just you!”

“Yes. Luciel, you were like that from the beginning… You kept talking about the same thing, but I knew at least that you didn’t acknowledge me.”

It was impossible to hope for understanding from Luciel, who thinks that all human affairs were a joke. Daymond wiped at his face once more.

“Luciel, I can’t stand you any longer.”

“Are you going to blame me? Daymond, why are you and Anne angry at me? What’s the point of a child that hasn’t even been born?”

“Get out of here right now! I will never see you again.”

As the low tone became eerie, Luciel’s face changed from a smile to a grotesque one. He tilted his head at Daymond’s face, which was clearly different from the expression he had seen so far.

“What are you talking about?”

“Luciel, I will abandon you.”

Luciel’s mouth twisted as he suddenly hardened his face.

“Daymond, who do you think you’re facing? How dare a halfling like you abandon me?”

Daymond lowered his gaze heavily to the floor at Luciel’s voice, which was rarely exasperated.

“If you don’t like that, you’d better leave me first.”

Luciel, whose eyes had become ambiguous, glared at Daymond, then disappeared in an instant. In the silence that came again, Daymond pulled at his hair painfully.

You killed my child!

The last words Anne had shouted echoed in his ears. His expression contorted like a monster as he looked at the palms that had been lowered from his face.

“That child was Anne and my child…”

He gripped his heart with a belated feeling of regret. Realizing that he was a terrible man, Daymond’s face contorted into a mess.
